FEI Canada, Toronto Chapter, is collaborating with The Canadian Centre for Ethics and Corporate Policy to bring to you a panel discussion on the subject of:

Understanding, Promoting and Practicing Ethical Decision-making

As business leaders in an ever-changing environment and having had to deal with many challenging issues over the past couple of years, in particular, this panel discussion will help you to consider:

What is expected of leaders in terms of ethical decisions;

How best to reinforce an ethical culture in an organization; and,

What is ethics in the workplace and what does an ethics program entail.

Some of the unique challenges organizations are facing involve building trust and raising awareness of what is ethics in a new form of hybrid work environment.  At the same time, business leaders need to consider how they can address ethical dilemmas, while being genuine, candid and visible to their teams.

These issues will be tackled by our highly qualified panel members comprised of:

Jasmine Tsang CPA, CA, Managing Partner, Ethics at Deloitte

Jasmine is the Managing Partner, Ethics for Deloitte Canada. In this role, Jasmine oversees the firm’s ethics program, provides insights on ethics, and sets the agenda for key programs to promote, sustain and build an ethical culture at Deloitte. Prior to this, she was the Deputy Global Chief Ethics Officer for Deloitte working with a network of Ethics Officers from around the globe to shape and influence the ethics agenda for Deloitte.

Jasmine has 20 years of experience at Deloitte in Canada and internationally across a wide range of areas including: ethics and conduct, enterprise risk management, financial risk management and audit. She is passionate about coaching and developing the next generation of leaders and actively participates in programs to support diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Jasmine is a Chartered Professional Accountant, Chartered Accountant. She completed her Bachelor of Commerce from the Haskayne School of Business at the University of Calgary and a Master of Professional Accounting from the University of Saskatchewan.

Benjamin Aberant, Partner, Labour & Employment Group at McCarthy Tétrault

Ben practices in both of the firm’s Toronto and Calgary offices and advises clients on Ontario and Alberta law. He also provides nationwide labour and employment advice to employers operating across Canada. He represents management in a variety of issues including recruitment, hiring, performance management, employment standards, pay equity, human rights, drug and alcohol testing, disability management, occupational health and safety, workers’ compensation, dismissals, privacy, collective bargaining, labour board proceedings, grievances, and labour arbitrations.

Ben received his Bachelor of Commerce (2005) from the University of Alberta, where he was the Dr. Hu Harries Gold Medallist, and his JD from Osgoode Hall Law School (2008). Prior to his legal studies, he served in the United States Marine Corps as an Infantryman. He is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, Ontario Bar Association, Law Society of Alberta, Law Society of Ontario, and the Canadian Association of Counsel to Employers.

He is also an active member of the Canadian Transport Lawyers Association and the (US) Transport Lawyers Association.

Jennifer Campbell, Director, Employee Behaviour and Ethics at Scotiabank

Jennifer started her career in labour and employment law at a management-side Bay Street firm in Toronto before moving in-house and focusing on complex Human Resources law issues, policy work and risk-related programs in Financial Institutions. Jenn has a keen interest in employee behaviour and conduct and has managed/developed Ethics programs at a large retailer and within FIs.

Jennifer received her Bachelor of Arts from Western University where she published her honours thesis relating to the impacts of nature/nurture on negative personality characteristics in participants.  Jenn earned her JD from the University of Windsor where she was awarded the prize for top grades in Labour and Employment Law. In her spare time, Jennifer is a soccer enthusiast and fosters rescued animals.
